Clubs

My school has started clubs. On a Friday afternoon we all go off to our clubs of our choice. We stay with that club for the rest of the term.

My first choice for clubs was coding and robotics because I had seen Riely and Benj doing scratch and I wanted to make a game. It also looked the most appealing.

I expected it to be us going on scratch or something similar and make a game before the end of the term. I never really thought of the robotics side of it though.

When I got there the teachers(Mr Reed and Mrs Sutherland)were talking about all the things we were going to do, like scratch, programming robots like bee bots. It all sounded really cool. Then we were taught how to use Scratch jr. We were put into groups. We made some real cool scratch jr presentations. It was exciting to experiment with it. I helped the year one in my group.

My goal is to improve my skills and to be able to make scratch games with confidence. I'm looking forward to my next session and I wonder what we'll be doing.

Cross country

CLAP! We were off. I ran out in front. My legs and heart pounding. Yes! A good start now I just need to keep my lead. If you're are wondering what's going on. It's my school cross country. My school has been practicing for this for ages. I'm worried if anyone goes past me it will be so embarrassing. As we race around Miss Milburn and head down the hill. I look back and see there their little legs racing . I hope they don't fall down the hill that would mean I'd have to deal with a crying 8 year old. You may be wondering why my competition was a little young that's because I was their guide. As I pulled into the finish line I watched all the kids sprint past. Then one kid sprints his heart out then trips and falls. Only one casualty so far.

I walk back to my bag have some food then we have to line up. I start to get nervous but it goes away because we had to what in line FOREVER! When we finally lined up at the start line. I was feeling tired but woke myself up by doing some stretches.( I was so happy I stretched I'm feeling no pain!) I had serious butterflies at this point. We had to wait at the start line for around 10 mins.

I kept my eyes on Miss Alloway who was holding the clapper. Then Miss Alloway suddenly said “ Are you ready? On your marks, get set ,CLAP! I ran into lead and around the cone that was the first of many corners. When I got into the forest that's when the stitch seriously kicked in. I felt like I was being stabbed. But I powered on knowing I was past halfway. When I got out of the forest I saw Marcus and Samuel entering. When I was on my last lap I looked back and saw Eb coming but I had the finish line in site.I sprinted to the finish knowing that I would get a rest. I went and saw my parents. I chatted to James. Then I had to go. When I headed home I was happy with my performance and excited because that was my last school cross country.

Reading review

My predictions for The short and incredibly happy life of Riley. On the front cover it shows a happy mouse hugging a small sad man. My thoughts were that the small man was Riley and he started off sad but he finds something he likes and becomes happy and has an incredibly happy and short life. But when you turn the first page it shows the same happy mouse sleeping hugging the same small sad man. Then I started thinking the mouse was Riley. Reading the book it showed the mouse Riley being happy with the small things in life where humans are never happy and always need the next best thing. When you finish it ends with Riley dying happily and the author suggesting to be content with the small things in life. For me this book is so true with it saying stuff like humans want to be taller-shorter-thinner-here-but-much-bigger-there-curly-straight-younger-older-less-spotty-moustache-smooth-skin-golden-tan-gorgeous-irresistible-not-bald-and-famous-in-a-painting.( that took very long to type by the way) This is a very good book if you're looking for a laugh.

Mt Richardson

Water, food, jacket and jersey. The list kept going on in my mind over and over again. As a collected everything I realised something was missing my William Pike shirt! It was a Friday morning on the 13 March. My School was climbing Mt Richardson. It was also a William Pike challenge so I needed my shirt! I looked everywhere even in my sister's room but time was against me. So I had to go without my shirt. As I jumped in the car I thought about the journey ahead. When I got there I head straight to the Mt Thomas room. Then we headed to the bus. I sat next to Harry and we were off.

When we got there everyone was excited. We got in a line and started. Jack,Eb,Hugh and I got to the front pretty quickly. After the first hour I started getting sore but luckily we had a break. When we set off I was fuelled and ready to go . When we left I was sore again after half an hour of walking. Then I started recognising parts of the track which was even worse because I would run to the place I recognised hoping to see the top. But filled with despair when I saw more track. In the next hour not much happened until I saw the rockslide part of the track I remembered that it was near the end. After that I just ran till I got up the top. I was first there quickly followed by Holly. The next 30 minutes we had our lunch, looked for snow berries( without much luck) and sat down and talked.

When it was time to start are decent we weren't too sad. Going down was so fun. Me, Jack,Eb,Hugh,Kate and Josh( former loburn student helping out) would sprint then wait then sprint and so on. It was great Eb jumped of a big ledge and fell into a big mud puddle. It felt much quicker on the way down and as soon as I knew we were near I sprinted and just fell on the grass. I was the first down. When we got on the bus we were chatting away all the way back. It was so fun. Hopefully we do this at High School.

Reading review

I enjoyed the book and it is cleverly illustrated. The storyline is that there are two people Norman and Brenda always feel like they were missing out at life and they wanted to fall in love. They never really felt emotions and they were shy and not social. They tried to find love and even wet on a blind date but it never worked. Until Brenda wondered if the world looked better up high so she climbed a ladder and fell on top of Norman. Then they got married lived happily ever after. This book is reflects that you should never give up. The sentences are very well worded and illustrated. I recommend this book if you're looking for a puzzle.
